Hi, I’m Kitty
After 25 years building websites and running online businesses (while raising three kids), I hit a point where I’d had enough.
Enough screens. Enough deadlines. Enough “quick revisions” that weren’t quick. I wanted something real. Something simpler. Something that involved dogs.
I Didn’t Plan to Start a Dog Boarding Business….I fell into it.
Working from home, with dogs already underfoot, I became the go-to person for friends and family: “Can you take him this weekend?”
But there was one condition. Ted had to approve.
Meet Ted…
Ted — my ginger Jack Russell — was my unofficial business partner.
Small. Opinionated. Suspicious of everything.
If Ted didn’t like a dog… there was always a reason.
We called it: The Ted Test
If a dog passed — they stayed.
If not — they didn’t.
Simple. And it worked.
What started as a favour quickly became something more.
Clients came back again and again.
Dogs ran through the door like it was their second home.
And I realised: This wasn’t a hobby. This was a business
Then Came Licensing…
In the UK, if you’re taking money for dog boarding — you need to be licensed.
No shortcuts. No guessing. And this is where most people get stuck.
Why I Created UK Dog Boarding Guide
When I started looking into it properly, I realised how unclear everything was.
There was:
scattered advice
conflicting information
no clear structure
So I built what I wish I had: A clear, simple way to start a dog boarding business properly — without confusion or costly mistakes.
